Conceptual Design of Distributed Propellers Aircraft: Non-Linear Aerodynamic Model Verification of Propeller-Wing Interaction in High-Lifting Configuration
Résumé
This paper presents a non-linear prediction of aerodynamic performance of a propeller-wing in high-lift configuration. The developed aerodynamic model will be integrated into FAST (Fixed-wing Aircraft Sizing Tool), the in house preliminary design loop of multidisciplinary design variables analysis developed by ONERA and ISAE-Supaero. The first stage of the work is based on a modified vortex lattice method (VLM) coupled with the viscous two-dimensional (2D) properties of the airfoils using α-method on the lifting-surfaces with high-lift devices attached. Hence, the method only requires two-dimensional aerodynamic properties of the lifting-surfaces sections based on the exact geometry of each airfoil of the lifting-surfaces, which simplifies and fastens the computation. This method module provides a satisfactory agreement with wind-tunnel data for both drag and lift. The analysis is then coupled with a propeller model to capture the effect of interaction on wing performance for a tractor configuration and validated with NACA propeller-wing with high-lift data.
